Vintage Flower Pendant Lamp

The Vintage Flower is a single pendant light built around a shaped glass shade with a floral form, hung from a brass-finished fitting. The appeal is what the glass does to the light rather than the silhouette alone. Because the shade is translucent rather than opaque, light passes through the body of the glass as well as spilling from the opening, so the shade itself glows and throws soft colour into the surrounding space instead of directing a hard cone straight downward. That is the difference between a pendant that lights a surface and one that changes the character of a room after dark. It suits the spots where a light hangs at eye level and is looked at as much as looked by: over a kitchen counter, above a dining table, in a hallway, or beside a bed in place of a table lamp. At 25 centimetres across and 20 tall it is a modestly sized fixture, which makes it well suited to hanging in a run of two or three over an island or a long table, where a single large pendant would feel heavy and a row of small ones reads as deliberate. Hung alone over a hallway table or a bedside it holds its own perfectly well too.

Four glass colours are offered: green, gold, transparent and white, and the choice matters more here than colour usually does, because the glass is what tints the light itself. Green and gold are the assertive options, casting warm or verdant colour onto nearby walls and giving the strongest retro character. Transparent lets the bulb show through and produces the sparkle and hard highlights of clear glass, which looks striking but does mean the bulb inside is visible, so a decorative filament bulb is worth considering. White is the softest and most diffuse, and the easiest to live with in a room where you want texture without a colour cast. The bulb takes a standard E27 screw fitting and is not included, which is genuinely an advantage rather than an omission: you choose the warmth, brightness and dimmability yourself, and replacements cost very little. A warm bulb around 2700K suits dining and bedroom use, while something brighter and cooler works better over a kitchen work surface where you actually need to see what you are chopping. If dimming matters, buy a dimmable LED and check the switch on the circuit, since an old dimmer built for incandescent bulbs will often make an LED flicker or buzz rather than dim cleanly.

The cord runs to 150 centimetres and is adjustable, so the drop can be set properly at installation rather than accepted as given. That matters more than people expect. Over a dining table the usual guidance is roughly 75 to 90 centimetres above the tabletop, high enough to keep sightlines clear across the table and low enough to light it rather than the ceiling. Over a kitchen island you can hang a little lower, and in a hallway you simply need it clear of anyone tall walking underneath. Getting the height right at the moment of installation saves taking the whole thing down again a week later when it turns out to hang awkwardly low. This is a hardwired ceiling fixture for indoor use, running on AC 220 to 240 volts with support for 110 to 120 volt supplies. If you are confident working with household mains wiring it is a straightforward job; if there is any doubt at all, this is work for a qualified electrician, and that is a genuine recommendation rather than a formality. Glass and mains wiring together are not a good place to improvise. An electrician will also set the drop height properly while the fitting is up, which saves revisiting it later.
